Acer Peripherals introduces the fastest DVD-ROM drive currently available, i.e. the DVP 1640a. The new drive replaces the current DVP 1040a. The new DVP 1640a reads DVD disks 16 times faster (21.440 KB/sec) and CD-ROMs 40 times faster (6.000 KB/sec). In spite of this speed, the drive is very stable and the DVD can be very easily rewound with the additional Cyberlink power DVD software. Moreover, the 1640a is equipped with an IDE interface which means it is very easy to connect to a PC. The drive has no problem reading all major DVD and CD-ROM formats, including DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R and CD-RW.
